JOINT COMMITTEE INQUIRY
BACKGROUND
In 2018, the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Water and Sanitation together with the Standing Committee on Public Accounts sought to undertake a Parliamentary inquiry into the challenges confronting the Department of Water and Sanitation.
WHY IS OUTA CHALLENGING IT
Issues with the Department need to be brought to light and addressed accordingly. OUTA have received plenty of information from whistle blowers on corruption and maladministration in the Department.
WHAT IS OUTA DOING ABOUT IT
• OUTA made the first part of its submission in August 2018 and will make subsequent submissions in 2019.
• For reasons unknown, the Joint Parliamentary Inquiry has not been formally established yet. OUTA will be applying pressure for the Inquiry to be formally underway.
TIMELINE
• 23 August 2018 – submission to the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry into the functioning of the Department of Water and Sanitation: Part 1
