THE OUTA E-TOLL DEFENCE UMBRELLA

Support for businesses and individuals who are afraid of prosecution for non-payment of e-tolls.

The purpose of the e-Toll Defense Umbrella is to crowd-fund the litigation process in challenging SANRAL’s strategy of summonsing e-toll defaulters. The legality of the e-toll decision is widely known following OUTA’s initial litigation to have the scheme scrapped. While the supreme court allowed SANRAL to continue its e-toll scheme, they also made it clear that an defensive challenge can be raised against SANRAL if and when they decide prosecute road users for non-payment of e-tolls.

The public has continuously asked, and turned to OUTA to provide input, support and assistance when it comes to challenging SANRAL’s litigation. OUTA introduced the e-Toll Defense Umbrella late in 2015 based on a crowd-funded mechanism to raise funds and provide the necessary support to those who received summonses and who chose to use OUTA’s appointed attorneys and senior council to assist them in defending their rights on the e-toll matter.

The more people contribute to OUTA, the more we can take on including but not limited to our existing mandate in fighting maladministration and corruption in South Africa.

As a non-profit organisation, OUTA is completely crowd-funded and our scope of work is complete dependent on the donations and contributions made by society.
